Hello! My name is Kayla Langton, and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina. I graduated from Penn State University in 2012 with my B.S. in Psychology, and went on to earn my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Shippensburg University in 2016. With nearly 8 years of experience, I have dedicated my career to providing compassionate, person-centered therapy tailored to the unique needs of each and every client who walks into my office. My approach prioritizes a safe, supportive environment; one where clients feel truly heard and seen.
I specialize in working with children through play therapy, utilizing developmentally appropriate techniques to help them process their big feelings and build confidence, all while knowing they have someone in their corner.
I also offer parenting sessions to support caregivers in fostering healthy family dynamics and strengthening their connection with their children.
My areas of clinical expertise include anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief and loss, everyday stressors, life transitions, relational issues, behavioral issues, and parenting concerns.
More recently, I expanded my expertise by attending a training in perinatal mental health. I am extremely passionate about supporting new and expecting Moms/Dads/Partners as they navigate the emotional and psychological complexities of pregnancy, postpartum, and the early parenting years.
My goal is to provide a compassionate, safe, calm, and supportive environment where you are free to be yourself. My hope is that you feel seen and heard as we work together to reach your goals.
I believe that healing happens through connection-when we finally feel safe enough to be our true selves, let those walls down, share our struggles

I believe that healing happens through connection-when we finally feel safe enough to be our true selves, let those walls down, share our struggles, and to know we're not alone. My goal is to walk alongside my clients as they navigate life's challenges, offering support, encouragement, and guidance along the way.
No matter who I'm working with, my focus is always on creating a genuine, supportive therapeutic relationship-because when we feel connected, we feel empowered to grow, heal, and move forward.
Working from an attachment-based lens, I recognize the profound impact that early relationships have on our emotional well-being. It focuses on how our past experiences shape the way we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us.
This is the meaning and passion behind my business name-Secure Foundations. It is based on the idea that as early as conception, we have the power to lay the groundwork for a secure foundation. And, what does this mean if we don't feel like we had a secure foundation to start our life with? How would our life be different? What can we do now?

We know that play is a child's first language, and in a therapeutic sense, it is a lens into their inner world. We also know that all behavior is communication, so through the play therapy process, we will figure out what your child is trying to communicate through their behaviors.
Yes, we are playing for the duration of the session, but, your child is processing their inner most thoughts, feelings, and emotions. As the parent or guardian bringing your child to therapy, it is essential that you trust this process, and trust that your child will work through whatever it is that they are needing to. Art therapy, sand tray, and bibliotherapy are often used throughout the course of treatment as well.
I have experience working with children who present with anxiety/fears, low self-worth, changes in their environment, anger outbursts, impulse control, social skills, and emotion expression.
Together, we will help your child gain the skills they need to become a confident, empowered individual, who can express their feelings in a healthy way that is respectful to both themselves and those around them.
